Safety Learning Center
"Safety Learning Center" may seem an unusual term that raises the question, "What is it?" Put simply, it is our "Safety Education Destination." It takes a great deal of time and resources to take a safety education show on the road to schools, businesses, and citizens in general. By creating a unique, interesting, and interactive facility, we can bring people to us to learn safety.
Don't let the idea of a safety education facility discourage your visit. We believe we have created a facility that can share the history and heritage that is Portland Fire & Rescue, be fun, and educate, all at the same time. In fact, the reason Portland Fire & Rescue exists is to meet the safety needs of Portland's citizens'. Last year, over 65,000 calls for emergency response came to Portland Fire & Rescue. Most are preventable and those are exactly the events we hope to prevent with our visitors to the Safety Learning Center.
Plan a visit to the Safety Learning Center & Fire Museum at the Historic Belmont Firehouse. You'll see what we mean. If you leave with thoughts or plans to make your life a bit safer, our job has been done, and you will have helped accomplish it. Even if you can't pay a visit, take the time to consider your safety and make a positive change. The life you save may be your own.
